Curcumin for COVID: the Evidence Mounts
Studies have shown that curcumin can speed up recovery from COVID and shorten hospital stays (Phytother Res. 2021;35(5):2616-2623). It improves many symptoms, including loss of smell and taste (Food Sci Nutr. 2021 Jun 19;9(8):4068-4075). Curcumin can also prevent blood clotting and reduce the risk of death (Front Pharmacol. 2021; 12: 669362).
A new systematic review of 6 controlled studies found that curcumin is effective for treating COVID due to its powerful ability to relieve inflammation from COVID by modulating the immune system’s effect on cytokines.
