Powerful Supplement Combo for Menopause
Menopause is a natural progression in a woman’s life. But that doesn’t mean the suffering is. Several lifestyle patterns can help prevent it, and several natural remedies can help alleviate it. Here’s one you knew with a twist you didn’t.
Isoflavones are mildly estrogenic flavonoids found abundantly in soy but also in herbs like red clover. Isoflavones have a remarkable ability to make things right: if your estrogen levels are too high, they help lower them by stealing receptor sites from your body’s own more powerful estrogen. But if your estrogen is low—as in menopause—the mildly estrogenic isoflavones gently raise them.
All kinds of studies have shown that soy isoflavones help with hot flashes and vaginal dryness and thinning. Red clover has also been shown to benefit menopausal women.
The greatest, most versatile and most powerful women’s herb of all is chastetree berry. The Queen of herbs has also been shown to help menopause.
And magnolia? Well, magnolia you’ve probably never heard of as a herb.
In 2017, an unexpected study found that a combination of chastetree berry extract, magnolia extract, soy isoflavones and probiotics significantly reduced the frequency and severity of hot flashes compared to isoflavones alone. There was significant improvement on the Kuppermann menopause index. The creative combo also significantly improved sleep quality and psychological wellness. The supplement was safe and produced no adverse events (Nutrients 2017:9(2), 129).
A just published study has now added more evidence for the menopause combo. It combined isoflavones with chastetree berry extract and, again, magnolia. The combination significantly and remarkably improved hot flashes, mood disorders and sleep.
As a bonus, it also significantly reduced several risk factors for heart disease, including both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, homocysteine and heart rate. It also significantly improved diabetes risk factors, including glucose concentrations and insulin resistance.
These studies suggest the possibility for a powerful new treatment for the symptoms of menopause. Try combining isoflavones with chastetree berry. And, if you can find some magnolia extract, throw that in too.
