Vitamin D Prevents Autoimmune Disease
Here’s yet another crucial use of vitamin D: it can reduce your risk of getting an autoimmune disease. This new double-blind study of 25,871 American adults gave either 2000IU of vitamin D or a placebo and followed them for 5.3 years. Vitamin D reduced the incidence of autoimmune disease by a significant 22%. When only the last 3 years of the study were analyzed, vitamin D reduced autoimmune disease by 39% (BMJ 2022;376:e066452).
